World Gdańsk Reunion Official Opening Keynote Address: Peter Oliver Loew The World Gdańsk Reunion is held to foster the traditions of an open, modern and hospitable Gdańsk. Much like in times gone by, Gdańsk will open its gates to all those who wish to identify with it, either because of their heritage or out of sheer fondness. It is our intention for this meeting of the great though dispersed host of Gdańskers to lead to tightened mutual bonds and a strengthened Gdańsk identity. The Reunion, which has become a fixture in the city’s cultural calendar, will have guests from throughout the world. Gdańsk History and Culture Congress Gdańsk Families About Gdańsk, For Gdańskers and More The Gdańsk History and Culture Congress is rooted in the awareness that it is impossible to build a good future without a knowledge of history; it upholds the idea that it is necessary to have a broad-minded or even critical view of the city as an organic and constantly developing entity. The overriding goal of this event is to build a feeling of belonging to the Great Gdańsk Family, to point out Gdańsk’s successes, but also any possible threats and the directions important for future development. The Congress is part of a long-term process to build a Gdańsk identity, to highlight and explain the complexities of the city’s history and also a unique opportunity for Gdańsk fans and experts in different fields to comprehensively discuss social phenomena, historical facts, current events and observations about demographics, culture, sociology and economy. The Congress will result in a summary publication. number of seats limited |
