Is there a better way to start the day than the smell of fresh bread and the aroma of good coffee? If you also think that there is no better option, you must absolutely visit the charming place called Marmolada Chleb i Kawa [Marmalade Bread and Coffee] in the Garrison in Wrzeszcz.

As it may be deduced from the name of the venue, bread products baked on-site are the primary specialty here: you may choose from a huge selection of fresh bread, baguettes, buns, bagels and other treats. This is accompanied by home-made preserves ranging from marmalades, pastes to chocolate creams and delicious coffee. You will also find here a variety of sandwiches, sweet and savoury dishes, salads and soups. In this way, you can eat breakfast in Marmolada style even in the afternoon. And it is a well-known fact that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

Herring in cream with apple, onion and sour cucumber served on potato segments

Price 16 PLN

Who would have thought that the first breakfast place in Gdańsk, which is famous for fresh bread and original preserves, serves the herring in cream! They do, and they do it well, keeping in mind the modern trends of sliming the Polish classics down. This is why the herring is not swamped in cream, as it traditionally is, but is served with the veggies and fruit salad from apples, onions and pickles, with just a hint of cream to join the ingredients. The plate is filled with jacked potatoes, so even though being a starter, it can fill you up at lunch.

The interior of the venue is bright and inviting thanks to huge windows. Shades of white, beige and warm grey dominate the space, skilfully combined with wood.  If you wish for a little bit of privacy while tasting the local baking, sit in the mezzanine with a view of the whole venue.
