FORTRESS OF SCIENCE: Berta – Chemistry for Kids interactive workshop

The project is addressed to children aged 4-8. The kids can become friends with Berta the Dragon, who will give them a fun and safe introduction to the fascinating world of chemistry. The workshop is a perfect combination of fun and learning. To ensure comfortable learning conditions, the number of participants is limited to maximum 30. The exhibit is located on the 2nd floor of the former shelter barracks in Gradowa Hill Fort in Gdańsk.

The exhibition consists of over a dozen permanent exhibits which are showcased in the restored former fortress buildings, located at the summit of the fortifications above the yard and the barracks and in the former ammunition laboratory complex. Apart from the exhibits on the successive sieges of Gdańsk (in 1734, 1807 and 1813), the visitors can find out more about the Prussian garrison which used to be stationed here, learn who lived and played in the Fort in the Free City of Gdańsk period, what role the Gradowa Hill Fort played during World War II, and find out how the Radio Free Europe jammer worked. Other attractions include mock-ups of selected fort structures together with biograms of the fort designers and aerial photographs, both contemporary and from the early 1920s. All the exhibits are enhanced with audio dramas, where leading Polish actors play the parts of historical figures.

During the 3rd World Gdańsk Reunion, the Gdańsk Inn will be closely integrated with the Polish Regional Beer Festival. Both events will form a joint food and drink garden, where you can drink from a selection of almost 20 varieties of delicious Polish regional beer with the Gdańsk dishes.

A historical tour of the Gradowa Hill Fort in Gdańsk. On this 2-hour guided walking trip, you can see the most interesting structures of the Fort with their interiors and learn the fascinating history of Gradowa Hill.
The tour, which follows in the footsteps of the most important events in the Fort’s history, will have the fabulous panorama of Gdańsk as its backdrop, viewed from several beauty spots.
The ticket includes entry to the Energy Sky and Sun interactive physics and astronomy exhibition in the South Caponier, which you can visit after the guided tour.

Gdańsk Baking Contest
The Coal Market (Targ Węgłowy) at the Gdańsk Inn
Organiser: The Gdańsk Foundation
Gdańsk bakeries and patisseries as well as resident of Gdańsk will take part in the contest. The public tasters will award a prize to the best baking product in a vote carried out in partnership with the Gazeta Wyborcza daily. Apart from the public vote, a jury of professionals will select a Gdańsk baked specialty, the likes of the St Martin’s croissant in Poznań, Warsaw’s zygmuntówka fairy cake, or Cracow’s cream puff and bagel.
